Regional Federal Courts
The Regional Federal Courts (in Portuguese, ''Tribunais Regionais Federais'', commonly called ''TRFs'') are Brazilian appellate courts of the Brazil federal court system. There are currently five of these courts, one to each geographically defined Federal Justice region. They are composed primarily by career judges, promoted alternatively between seniority and merit. The Brazilian constitution mandates that a fifth of the members be lawyers and public prosecutors, chosen in an alternate manner.
